As social distancing became the new normal, it gave people enough time to come up with new things. Terms like “covidiot”.
The word covidiot is pretty popular these days. Look it up on Twitter if you don’t believe us. It basically is an insulting term for someone who ignores health advice about Covid-19. Read “What does ‘Covidiot’ mean?” to know more details.
How to not be a Covidiot?
Don’t be in denial
Some people just aren’t grasping the seriousness of the situation. They are in constant denial that the virus exists or is as bad as the media projects it. They also refrain from following the guidelines. Therefore, don’t be in denial. Try to understand the seriousness of the situation and adhere to the safety guidelines.
Follow the guidelines
The public safety guidelines issued by the government and the healthcare officials is for the wellbeing of people. Don’t confuse it with a political thing. Make sure to follow the guidelines such as using alcohol-based hand sanitizers, wearing face mask, maintaining social distancing etc.
Be brave not foolish
Covidiots tend to think that they’re immune to the virus or won’t get seriously ill which is plain stupid. Moreover, if they do end up OK after contracting the virus, doesn’t mean the people they interact with will, too. They may get infected, pass the virus along, and give it to someone who will get sick and die. In many ways, it’s a social responsibility for people to commit to reducing the transmission of the virus.
Don’t be impulsive
This is especially likely after months of living under local restrictions. It has made some people more impulsive. And there are certain things about impulsivity that are bad right now, like throwing a party with 100 people. So be calm and have patience, as the situation may have stretched but it is definitely not permanent.
Don’t be selfish
Yep, went there. There is a large population of people that is more concerned about self-interests and their own gratifications than the greater good. Do not be one of them. Period.
